There was a time when some of our leaders were labeled as agents of the Jews. 14th February (Valentine's Day) is also marked as a conspiracy by Jews. A few media programs in fact sometimes the entire media is labeled as some sort of conspiracy by the Jews. Seemingly, Jews are responsible for every wrong and doubtful thing around the world, especially in our country. In fact, we believe that Jews are so idle that they have nothing better than to conspire against other countries. One is surprised that such a small country with such a small population of 8.5 million can be so powerful and influential. Only the population of the three districts (East, West & South) of Karachi exceeds the total population of Israel. There is an amazing book "Start-up Nation" written by Dan Senor & Saul Singer which answers all the questions that can be raised in one's mind.
So, today we are going to discuss the reasons behind the success of Israel and Jews without any bias, hatred, religious conflict, jingoism, or rhetoric.
Israel is also known as a start-up nation. A start-up is a business that introduces a new idea or a unique product in the market. If we talk about Israel, it has the most startups per capita in the world. For every 1400 people, there is one startup company which means Israel has 6000 startups. This amazing entrepreneurial mindset is not present in any nation in the world. If we talk about Nasdaq, which is 2nd biggest stock exchange in the world, the most listed companies are in Israel after the USA. These are not small companies but are worth of billion dollars. Every year, Israel produces more startup companies than China, Japan, India, and the UK despite being in a state of war, having no access to natural resources, being completely isolated due to the Arab League boycott, and having no access to regional markets, Then what is that secret formula or magic which makes Jews so successful?
There are 5 reasons given in the book "Start-ups Nation" that make Israel and the people living there so accomplished.
One of the biggest reasons for the success of Israel is that its people live their life according to the principle that goes like this, "Fail, Fail fast, and Fail forward". People are appreciated for failure in the Israeli Society. Risk-taking is encouraged and initiative is fully supported. In other countries of the world, especially 3rd world countries, if one fails in business or in any other life venture, then family and peers come with such a mocking and satirical attitude and embrace him to the core that he goes into depression. It is the beauty of the Jews that they are not afraid of taking risks and initiative because they know that even if they fail, their society will never let them in high and dry, but will give them multiple chances to succeed. This is one of the biggest positive elements in the Jewish Society which makes them relentless and never get afraid of doing business, and eventually become successful.
The second big reason behind the success of Israel is that they have a strong focus on research and development. The Jews have no match when it comes to excellence in research. Two things prove this. Surveys show that Israel spends the biggest amount of its GDP on research and development (R&D) in the world. Japan comes 2nd while the USA comes 3rd after Israel. It is evident from the graph that whichever country does the most expense on R&D is one of the top countries in the world. Look at UAE. Despite plenty of resources, it spends nothing on R&D. It is the habit of Muslim countries to import and buy technology without paying any heed to how its mechanics and theory work. That's why our human development index remains at the lowest level. Secondly, the research centers of the leading and emerging technology companies in the world like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, etc. are present in Israel. The R&D centers of these companies are located in Israel. Whenever these companies want to produce a new product, they develop it in Israel and then ship it across the world. The Jews are by birth and instinctively research-oriented and these companies make full use of them.
The 3rd reason for their success is their love and a special focus on education. They are education lovers. They love practical education. In education, they especially focus on knowledge and brain power so that they can find practical solutions to their problems. In this regard, they started establishing universities that are more than 100 years old like the Technion Institute of Technology in 1912. Similarly, they founded Hebrew Science University in 1925. In 1934, they established the Weizmann Institute of Technology. It is not astonishing that even 100 years ago, their focus was on Science and Technology because they knew that the key to progress and success in the modern world is to adopt the scientific method. This thought proved a game-changer for Israel. Let's understand it with the help of an example. Israel always used to import war equipment, arms, and ammunition but due to sanctions, they realized that it was better to start manufacturing all this within the country. Therefore, they started manufacturing fighter jets known as Levi but this project was dissolved in 1987 due to its high cost. As a result, about 5,000 scientists became unemployed. But it is the beauty of Israel that transforms every adversity into opportunity. Instead of being dejected, these 5,000 scientists who entered the market and started working on technology established new companies and startups. They not only secured their future but also contributed to the development of their country.
The English word "Chutzpah" comes from the Hebrew Language whose pronunciation is "hutz pah" as the letter "c" is silent in it. It means assertiveness, boldness, confidence, and arrogance. This "Chutzpah" is another big reason behind the success of Jews. Basically, Jews don't believe in the status quo. They will forbid the boss if he is doing wrong. They never press their emotions or feelings just because of affection or good behavior. Their thinking is straightforward and that's why they solve their societal problems very fast.
The 5th reason behind the success of Jews is 3 years of mandatory military service for all citizens. Every citizen of Israel is bound to serve for 3 years in the military which makes them self-reliant, and natural leaders and their decision-making power becomes very strong which becomes very helpful in establishing business later. Those countries in which military service is mandatory like South Korea and Singapore are very advanced.
Thus. there may be various issues with Israel diplomatically, but the positive elements can be taken for the sake of betterment and progress in this competitive world. The mark of an educated mind is to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
